The Alfred Polo Foundation has always worked towards youth empowerment through improving education and sports activities in schools.
In May 2019, the APF team visited a number of primary and secondary schools for a series of empowerment events. The activities involved included motivational talks, award ceremonies, and sports matches. For the primary schools, the team had to be simple and descriptive in their motivational speeches to ensure the message was well received and understood by the young minds.
This visit also constituted the team’s first visit to Bodi Primary School where we gave out sports uniforms, footballs and storybooks. APF team made pledges to further support the school both in academics and co-curricular activities.
At St. Elizabeth Koyoo Mixed secondary school, we celebrated with the school on sending some of the 2018 KCSE candidates to university. A meal was shared by the entire school community and APF team. The school promised to send an even higher number to university next year, and the APF team promised to have an even bigger celebration for that next year.
All pledges made to the various schools in the 2018 visit were also fulfilled during this year’s visit. The pledges touched on the following schools and were related to academics, sports and discipline:
